A look back at the social movements, revolts and youth subcultures from the post-war period to the present day: after the World War II, the left-bank of Paris became a mecca for jazz and alternative living, youth culture was born with trailblazing American movies, and rock became the soundtrack to a generation that wanted to change everything.

This portrait of the New York band Sonic Youth marking the band’s 20th anniversary covers its history from the beginnings to today. Numerous video clips and films of live gigs as well as interviews with, and reminiscences of, collaborators over the years will be used to document the musical development of one of the most innovative and influential bands of the last two decades. Contemporaries include former mentor Glenn Branca, composer and conductor of guitar symphonies which had a seminal influence on participating musicians such as Lee Ranaldo and Thurston Moore, who went on to become Sonic Youth’s guitarists. The band members‘ numerous creative arts projects and other musical activities – in particular improvised music – will be covered in depth.

The arrival of Mr. Knox, the new sports instructor at a British public school, heralds trouble. He imposes his dominant personality to influence colleagues and the headmaster alike, and then attempts to force himself on Millicent, the assistant matron.

Another one of the many "voice-only" Movietone shorts and/or newsreels in which radio actor and sportscaster Paul Douglas toiled for a decade before getting his break-out role in 1949's "A Letter to Three Wives." Douglas did most of these displaying the wryness and humor that personalized most of his acting roles. This also is yet another seemingly never-ending tributes to Florida that appeared to pop up weekly in shorts-produced-in Hollywood and shot-in-Florida for about a decade following WW II. Evidently, the Florida Chamber of Commerce was more willing to spend money on self-promotion than its counterpart in California.

This Canadian produced film spotlights the young flyers of the Canadian Air Force in the early days of World War II. Quite well done and rarely seen. Narrated by Lorne Greene later the star of Bonanza.
